Setting up Guided Access

Setting up Guided Access

Guided Access is a feature that lets you restrict the use of the iPad to a single app of your choice. It is part of Apple's iOS operating system on the iPad. Enabling Guided Access mode ensures that your visitors are restricted to the iLobby app, and they can’t view, open, or use any other apps on your device.

Preparing the iPad for Guided Access

  1. Launch the Settings app on your iPad
  2. Scroll down to Accessibility and tap on it
  3. Tap on Guided Access
  4. Tap the switch to turn on Guided Access
  5. Tap on Passcode Settings
  6. Tap Set Guided Access Passcode and enter a six digit passcode.
  7. Toggle Accessibility Shortcut to On, which allows you to triple-click the Home button and enter Guided Access at any time.
Make sure to write down the passcode that you entered for future reference. The iLobby support team will not know your passcode for security reasons.
We recommend to keep your passcode private for security reasons. Only share it with appropriate personnel within your organization who are meant to administer the iPad.

Launching Guided Access on the iPad

Once your iPad has been prepared for Guided Access, you can now activate it as follows:
  1. When you’re ready to start a Guided Access session, open the iLobby app.
  2. Triple-click (fast click 3 times) the Home button.  The device will bring up the Guided Access mode.
  3. Tap Start in the top right corner of the screen (the system should confirm by stating Guided Access Started on the screen).
If you have an iPad Pro, you need to press the Power (side) button on the iPad three times to launch guided access.

Exiting Guided Access on the iPad

  1. Triple-click the Home Button.
  2. Enter the passcode.
  3. Tap End.
If you have an iPad Pro, you need to press the Power (side) button on the iPad three times to launch guided access.
