Primera Printer Ethernet Guide

Purpose
The purpose of this article is to outline the steps required to set up the Primera LX500c printer to work with an iPad in iLobby over an Ethernet connection.

Assumptions
This article assumes that you have received the following items:
  1. Wi-Fi iPad or iPad Pro
  2. Primera LX500c Printer
  3. Primera PTLink for IP60 - Print Server

Step 1: Unbox and Prepare Printer
Unbox the Primera printer and connect it to power. Turn it on by flipping the switch on the back. Next, install the included ink cartridge and close the ink cartridge holder cover as shown below.

Step 2: Install and Feed the Label Roll
Pull the label stock guide and insert the included paper roll. Begin feeding it into the printer and allow the printer to automatically grab and guide the paper. Afterwards, close the printer cover and press the Load/Feed button to ensure that the printer is able to feed and cut the badge rolls correctly.

Step 3: Unbox and Prepare the Print Server (PTLink for IP60)
Unbox the print server and connect it to power using the included power cable. The power cable may include a power switch that will need to be pressed in order to delivery power to the unit. Next, connect the printer itself and this printer server unit using the included USB cable. Use the below images for reference:

Step 4: Connect the Printer Server to Your Network Using Ethernet
Connect the print server to your network using an Ethernet cable. The print server has an Ethernet port shown in the diagram above. Once connected, the print server will retrieve an IP address using DHCP. Note the "Web Portal" address indicated on the sticker located on the side of the print server. Please see below for reference:

Once connected, open Safari on your iPad and navigate to the Web Portal address that is indicated on the sticker of your print server (please ensure that the iPad is on the same network as the print server, alternatively, you can use any other browser on a machine that is connected to the same network):

On this page, press on WiFi Networks at the top the current IP address of the print server will be displayed as shown in the example below:
The IP address should be reserved through DHCP or set statically to ensure that it does not change. Engage your network team to reserve the IP. You may need to provide them with the MAC address that is visible by visiting the "Web Portal" address discussed in this guide.

Step 5: Configure Your iLobby Account for the Primera Printer
Visit the iLobby Portal ( https://portal.goilobby.com) and enter your credentials to login. After logging in, navigate to the settings gear at the top right and select Configuration. Select your site, and on the Features tab, ensure that Badge Printing is enabled and press Configure. Select Wi-Fi/Ethernet as the connection type, enter the IP address you recorded in Step 4, and set the media type to 4x3 labels (color). You are now ready to use iLobby with the Primera color label printer.
